Some kind of Toyota version of the Eco-bollocks stuff other companies bring out these days.
Or an electric hybrid thing which does 0-60 in a decade.
I hope I'm wrong on that.....
Well you say that, but that's exactly what spawned the Starlet GT, Charade GTti and all the other small engined turbocharged vehicles of the late 80s / early 90s. There's a market gap for small engined, turbocharged and
lightweight hatchbacks.
The Ford 1.0 Ecoboost is a good and light engine (it does hold the road legal Nurburgring lap record - they modified it to 200bhp and placed it in a road legal Formula Ford). It's basically a CB80 Daihatsu engine but almost 30 years behind the time, no more advanced.
Honda are set to release a 1.0 VTEC turbo (130ps) - how cool? There are 1.6 and 2.0 variants of the same engine. I'm sure others will follow suit.
It seems engineering is heading back to the 80s, but weight just keeps on increasing. Giving one thing in one hand, taking something else from another!
